In February 2026, deputies assigned to the Thousand Oaks Police Department were conducting a traffic enforcement operation. Deputies observed a juvenile male subject riding an off-highway electric motorcycle in the opposite direction of traffic. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on the motorcyclist, but the motorcyclist failed to yield. The motorcyclist recklessly evaded deputies by committing several vehicle code violations. Deputies ended their pursuit after determining it was unsafe to continue.
